Vocals and Guitar
Glyn Hawke studied performing arts at De Montfort University before re-training and becoming a primary school teacher in South-East London. He is a keen musician and plays guitar, cello and clarinet, and has sung in a variety of contexts. Growing up in Cornwall, male voice choirs and brass bands played a big part in his musical upbringing. He was a member of Breathing Space for 8 years which is where he met fellow Valentine Bronwyn, and now enjoys the blend of voice and instruments in Rambling Valentines.
has been singing since the early 1990s as a lead and harmony singer in a range of musical guises including an all-girl electro-pop group, a cappella groups, acoustic duos and cover bands galore! After moving from Australia in 1998, she pursued her love of singing in cover bands and continues to collaborate with many talented musical colleagues. After happily stumbling across the London a cappella scene in 2004, she has been a member of the 7 piece a cappella jazz and pop group Breathing Space, lead by Della Rhodes, since 2007, where she sang alongside fellow Valentine, Glyn Hawke.
was a professional musician on the folk scene, when, in the ‘70s, he toured and performed extensively round Europe and Britain, appearing at clubs and festivals, culminating in an open-air concert at midnight in Berlin’s Alexander Platz, before 25,000 people armed only with a 12-string guitar. However, real life intervened and he had to get a proper job, and worked as a print and TV journalist. He has performed on national TV, appearing on children’s programmes as well as shows for grown ups…there is no record as to which group was the more appreciative…if at all. Throughout, he has always played and performed and counts himself lucky to have been asked to join Bronwyn & Glyn…whose music he loves.
